Introduction
Thanks
for signing up for Digis Unlimited Phone service. The
following information will give you detailed instructions on
how to hook up all the telephones in your home to your new
telephone service. Please follow the instruction carefully. Failure
to do so may cause damage to the phone adapter unit. |
 |
Step 1
Open the box delivered to your
home. Inside the box you should find the Linksys phone adapter,
power supply and one ethernet cable (blue). The power supply will
come in two parts. Simply slide the small black plug portion onto
the large black power supply. |
|
Step 2
You
will need to disconnect your home phone system from your current
landline provider. To do this, locate the telephone
Network Interface Unit on the outside of your house. This
is usually located by the cable and power boxes. Most units will
look like the box shown here but may vary depending on the
age of the home. |
|
Step 3
Using
a screwdriver, open the Network Interface Unit where it allows
for customer access. |
|
Step 4
Interface Type 1: Locate
all the RJ-11 telephone jacks in the box. These are the clear
jacks that look like a standard telephone cable jack in your
home. |
| Interface Type 2: Newer
homes will often have a different style phone interface. This
interface will require that you disconnect the wires. To
do so you will need to press the orange tab next to the words "cover
release." Next, simply lift up on the latch as shown below. |
|
|
Step 5
Interface Type 1: Unplug
all the RJ-11 telephone jacks in the box. This will disconnect
the phone company and the power they supply to your phone line
in the home. Close the box and secure with the screw driver. |
| Interface Type 2: Now
push the orange tabs up and pull the wires out of the holes
for ALL wires. Close the latch and secure the access door. |
|
|
Step 6
Locate your Internet connection
from Digis. This is the line that comes into your home from the
outside and then plugs into the Motorola ethernet power adapter.
You can easily locate this connection by finding your Motorola
power adapter and following the wire from the adapter to the end
with the small box and black wire. Typically you find this plugged
into your computer or router if you have one. Leaving this page
open on your computer, unplug this connection. |
|
Step 7
Place the Linksys phone in a location
near a phone jack and convenient for use. Near the computer is
usually the most convenient location.
Insert the end for the Linksys
power supply into the phone adapter and plug other end into a power
source. |
|
Step 8
Take the end of your Internet
connection you found in Step 2 that was plugged into your computer
or router and plug into the blue slot called "Internet."
|
 |
Step 9
Take the blue ethernet wire that
was included in the Linksys phone adapter box and plug it into
the yellow slot called "ethernet."
The the other end of the blue
ethernet wire should be plugged into the same location on your
computer or router from which you just unplugged the black connector. |
 |
Step 10
Plug the wire going from WALL
OUTLET into the Linksys phone adapter slot labled "Phone 1."
If you would like to use a phone
from the same wall outlet, purchase a 2-Outlet (8-pin/4-pin) telephone
jack adapter.

|
 |
The back of your device should
now look like this.
|
 |
Step 11
Turn the Linksys phone adapter
so that you can see the lights. You should now see the first three
lights turned on.
Light 1 is the power light and
should be solid.
Light 2 light will flash as
traffic for the Internet pass through.
Light 3 indicates phone service
is available and will flash for 30-60 seconds and then go solid
green. It will flash during a phone call. |
 |
Step 12
Test your connection by picking
up the phone. You should now hear a dial tone. Use the phone and
enjoy Digis Unlimited Phone. |
